Simulator-Based Hands-on Course in Catheter Laboratory Imaging
A one-day intensive course exploring the role of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and fluoroscopy in structural heart interventions. Focused lectures are followed by hands-on simulation, guiding participants from anatomical assessment and procedural planning to device positioning, evaluation of procedural results and recognition of complications.
COURSE HIGHLIGHTS
• TEE-guided transseptal puncture: anatomical landmarks, procedure-specific puncture site selection and TEE–fluoroscopy fusion imaging
• Patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure: septal anatomy, shunt assessment, device selection and positioning
• Atrial septal defect (ASD) closure: 2D/3D assessment of defect size and rims, procedural guidance and residual shunt evaluation
• Mitral balloon valvuloplasty: valve morphology, suitability assessment, procedural guidance and post-procedural evaluation
• Aortic and mitral paravalvular leak closure: 3D localization, sizing, wire and device guidance, and residual leak assessment
• Left atrial appendage (LAA) closure: anatomical assessment, thrombus exclusion, device sizing and deployment criteria
• Integration of TEE and fluoroscopic views throughout key procedural steps
• Simulator-based assessment, faculty feedback and certificate ceremony
HANDS-ON TRAINING MODEL
24 Participants | 4 Faculty | TEE Simulators
Participants will train in small groups, rotating through TEE simulator stations. Each thematic session combines focused teaching on TEE and fluoroscopy with practical exercises under faculty guidance.
The small-group format provides opportunities for active simulator practice, direct feedback and discussion of procedural imaging challenges.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Cardiologists • Echocardiologists • Interventional cardiologists • Physicians involved in structural heart interventions who wish to develop their procedural TEE and catheter laboratory imaging skills
Course Language: Turkish
Participation is limited to 24 participants.
